Every organization, office, company, whether small-sized or large-scale, they all need Wi-Fi and do have the same too. Often, we do not hesitate to connect to the Wi-Fi when there is a password instead of joining the Wi-Fi that is not secured. But to have a password on the Wi-Fi does not mean that it is secured. Getting the wireless network secured is not as simple as it seems to be. It is not just the password that has to be set to attain security. But having the WPA that is Wi-Fi Protected Access of the latest generation, with the strongest encryption, is the requirement to keep all the data safe. Latterly, WPA2 was being used by the enterprises and even the US government. But seeing the shortcomings of the WPA2 and frequent issues with the security, WPA3 was brought to the market stage.

What Is WPA3

The WPA3, which stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access 3, is the latest generation of the Wi-Fi security portal. The Wi-Fi security protocol is created by the Wi-Fi Alliance to secure the wireless connection as the wired ones. Till date, there have been four generations of security. From the endorsement of IEEE 802.11 in 1999 to WPA, WPA2, and WPA3, the security portals have been evolving.

Though WPA2 has been a staple security portal in the market for a decade, the same started to get some issues. After detecting the flaws in the WPA2 in the year 2017, the security alliance had to make more secure portals, and thus they upgraded the existing security system. So they created WPA3. As we can see, the WPA3 is the latest version of the security portals! The WPA3 came with similar encryption like WPA2, which is AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). Despite having the same version as that of WPA2, WPA3 had two modes: WPA3-Personal and WPA-Enterprise. These modes are responsible differently for businesses and homes. The personal modes are very easy to use and deploy. Consecutively, the WPA3-Enterprise is basically for the organizations, as WPA3 is more secure than the personal modes.

The Two Modes Of WPA3

As we have seen above, there are two different modes of the WPA3: Personal mode and Enterprise mode. So, let us see what these two different modes are precisely.

WPA3-Personal - To be very precise, the WPA3-Personal uses 128-bit encryption and has individualized encryption, which is secured than any other security portal for personal usage. Also, there are improvements in the general Wi-Fi inscriptions. And it was all possible because of the Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE) that replaced the pre-shared key authentication method, which was generally used in the WPA.

WPA3-Enterprise - The WPA3-Enterprise uses 192-bit encryption for businesses. The network is very less complicated and very easy to use. Being easy to be used, it also helps the owners of sensitive data to keep the same safe.

What Benefits Can WPA Offer A Business

  • A Powerful Encryption - The WPA3 offers the most robust encryption through the new methods of security. It uses the simultaneous authentication of equals (SAE) approach for security. So, to see how SAE is better than the pre-shared key (PSK), we need to understand PSK, and then we can have a better understanding of the SAE.

WPA uses PSK; that is, the Wi-Fi has the pre-shared password. Any small scale company or large business using the WPA2 can be attacked by hackers with a brute force attack. Basically, a brute force attack is guessing the password again and again until one gets matched. So, you see, the hackers can crack the password if they really want to do the same. However, if we talk about the SAE that is simultaneous authentication of equal, it is a secure portal that eliminates the password setting. So, when it does not have a password, the WPA3 registers every new user on the Wi-Fi network after getting it authorized. So, to connect to the Wi-Fi, you no longer have to depend on the passwords, and the organization does not have to share the same with anybody.

  • Easy To Connect & High Security - As you do not need a password to connect to the network, the connecting part is easier in the WPA3. The devices that do not have the interface or display do not need configuration all the time to get connected. The advancement in the system allows the users to add the Wi-Fi network with the help of other devices, having a more robust interface. Such as, you can use a smartphone to scan the QR code, and then the network will be added to your device. So, this system eliminates the hassle of configuration all the time yet keeps the network safe.

We are often told that we should not do sensitive data related work on public Wi-Fi. We are told this because the cafes, hotels, restaurants, malls, airports, and other similar places use the WPA2, and there is always this fear that your activities can get traced and your sensitive data might get traced and then controlled. So, if these places start to use WPA3, then any user that gets connected to the Wi-Fi, the connection will get encrypted automatically with the Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE). Now, when it is encrypted with OWE, the users data will be kept confidential and will stay safe. So, if such places want to retain their customers with secure Wi-Fi and avoid the disputes regarding the leak of data through their Wi-Fi, then WPA3 is the option they should choose.

  • WPA3 Protects Your Wireless Network

If you are willing to keep the data safe in the office and want to stay away from the disputes when you have the open Wi-Fi in your restaurant, opt to get the WPA3. The WPA is the latest wireless security portal, and it can help you keep all the sensitive data safe from the nip and attacks of hackers. With its routers or access points, the WPA will serve as the solution to the security issues. And as the WPA is the newest security portal that is launched in 2018, it will surely guard your network and data for the future well.
