In the start of Juniper’s business in producing network equipment they mainly focused on Core Routers. However, in the last couple of years they mainly focused on developing and manufacturing software based networking solutions and devices.
Today, their main devices for which they are known in the world are their EX series Switches. Their switches are functioning with the help of JunOS, their operating system, with various range of features.
Their EX switches come in many shapes and sizes and there are quite a few platforms. Starting from EX2200 which are compact gigabit switches up to the X9200 series switches mainly used for cloud and virtualization applications. A compact and affordable 1GB switch with four SFP ports. Highly energy efficient, great for indoor office use. |
Juniper EX2300 |
The successor of EX2200 which has four SFP+ ports instead of SFP ports. |
Juniper EX2500 |
This line is a 10Gb line of switches mainly used for high performance server applications. It features 24 10GB SFP+ ports. |
Juniper EX3200 |
These switches support up to 48 10/100/1000 MB/s PoE ports and they can support up to 10GB uplinks. |
Juniper EX3300 |
These cost-effective switches are mainly used for access layer applications in the Datacenter. They support data, voice and video. These switches can be interconnected and operated as a single switch with the help of Juniper Virtual Chassis technology. |
Juniper EX3400 |
This series of switches is the successor of the EX330 series. It adds two 40GB SFP+ ports. |

This series is used mainly for 10GB backbones. With this switches a separate routing engine can be fitted to ease their function. |
Juniper EX9200 |
This series of switches is mainly used for server, virtualization and cloud applications. They are used in the core and aggregation layers of Datacenters and Campuses. The EX9200 can deliver up to 240 GB/s duplex operation per port. |
