MPO = (Multi-fiber Push On)
The MPO connector is the industry acronym for "Multi-fiber Push On", with push-on insertion release mechanism, provides consistent and repeatable interconnections and available with 4, 8, 12, or 24 fibers.
MTP = Mechanical Transfer Push-On.
With the MPO (Multi Fiber Push-On) / MTP (Mechanical Transfer Push-On) multi-core connector is possible at this time a data rate up to 100Gbit/s over a distance of up to 150m (OM4) or 100m (OM3).

The MTP connector housing is removable. This feature allows the customer to:
- Re-work and re-polish the MT ferrule
- Change the gender after assembly or even in the field
- Scan the ferrule interferometrically after assembly
The MTP connector offers ferrule float to improve mechanical performance. This allows two mated ferruled to maintain physical contact while under an applied load.
The MTP connector uses tightly held tolerance stainless steel guide pin tips with an elliptical shape. The elliptical shaped guide pin tips improves guidance and reduces guide hole wear.
The MTP connector has a metal pin clamp with features for centering the push spring. This feature:
- Eliminates lost pins
- Centers spring force
- Eliminates fiber damage from spring
The MTP connector spring design maximizes ribbon clearance for twelve fiber and multifiber ribbon applications to prevent fiber damage.
The MTP connector is offered with four standard variations of strain relief boots to meet a wide array of applications.

MPO / MTP Fanout & Trunk Cables that can be custom built for any application. All cables come factory terminated and pre-tested, ensuring top performance and ease of installation. Fanout assemblies can be built with any single fiber connector and any major fiber type. These cables are designed to work in conjunction with MPO Fiber Distribution products.
High-Density MPO Fiber Distribution Cassettes offer unsurpassed fiber density and are designed to be used in conjunction with High Density Panels. Each cassette contains a fanout assembly that transitions from a MPO 12 fiber connector to 6 LC duplex pairs. Cassettes are designed to be installed with LC Uniboot assemblies for the highest density available. Panel and cassette combination is capable of supporting 144 fibers in 1RU, 288 fibers in 2RU and 576 fiber in 4RU. MTP / MPO harness cables are available with 8-, 12-, 24-, 36-, 48-, 72-, 96- and 144-fiber options
High-Density Rack Mount Fiber Management Panels offers unsurpassed fiber density and performance. Panels are capable of supporting 144 fibers in 1RU, 288 fibers in 2RU and 576 fiber in 4RU. The panels support High-Density MPO Distribution Cassettes that allow for scalable MPO deployments, and have built in fiber management components.

Since the MPO/MTP products are factory terminated, they can be installed easily and simply. They use a simple push-pull latching mechanism for easy and intuitive insertion and removal. Thus, the installing process only includes pull and plug, eliminating all unpredictable field termination troubles. It is estimated that the MPO/MTP solutions’ installation time can be reduced by up to 75% compared to traditional fiber cabling systems.

Being the same size as a SC connector, the MPO / MTP connector can accommodate 12/24 fibers, providing 12/24 times the density.
